Principal Mechanical Engineer
About the role
Based (in a flexible working model with home/office working) in our Manchester or Sunderland office you will be part of a dynamic and collaborative team Engineers and Technicians based in offices around the UK.

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team in the non-infra water sector. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the design, development, and maintenance of mechanical systems and equipment used in water treatment, distribution, and conservation. Your expertise will contribute to ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of water-related facilities and processes, enhancing water quality and promoting sustainable water management practices.
Responsibilities:
- Design and engineer mechanical systems and equipment for water treatment, distribution, and conservation projects, adhering to project requirements, industry standards, and applicable regulations.
- Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments to evaluate the viability and performance of mechanical components and systems in water-related applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, technicians, and project managers, to develop and implement innovative solutions for water treatment, pumping, filtration, and storage systems.
- Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create detailed 2D and 3D models, specifications, and engineering drawings of mechanical components and systems.
- Perform calculations, simulations, and stress analyses to ensure the integrity, efficiency, and safety of mechanical designs, considering factors such as fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and structural considerations.
